Health Related Fitness Physical Education Intervention: Self-Determination Perspective

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect 8-week health-related physical education (HRFPE) intervention on 9th-grade students' fitness knowledge (HRFK) level, activity level (PAL), and levels. Methods: Experimental research with two groups, HRFPE, skill-based education, 154 students, measured before after intervention. While experimental group attended HRFPE intervention, comparison Quantitative data were gathered from Health-Related Fitness Knowledge Test (HRFKT), International Physical Activity Questionnaire for Adolescents (IPAQ-A), Fitnessgram tests (Left & right leg Flexibility, Push-up, Pacer, Curl-up, BMI). Data HRFKT, IPAQ-A analyzed by mixed-design multivariate analysis variance (MANOVA). (ANOVA). Results: test results revealed a significant cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular endurance, training principles, general health parameters HRFKT. significantly increased low vigorous PAL participants. positively affected flexibility, pacer cardiovascular, curl-up BMI. Results demonstrated self-determination theory based developing HRFK behavior, performances. Conclusions: This that teachers could design implement course interventions in real school settings. Further recommendations discussed regarding content implementation teachers, curriculum specialists, future studies.
